QUALIFICATIONS The Monterey Peninsula Voices welcomes all who are interested in singing. You don’t have to audition and you don’t have to be able to read music — but it helps. Each singer is expected to pay membership dues, perform volunteer tasks, obtain costuming, and attend rehearsals weekly.
MEMBERSHIP COST Members are asked to pay dues, in the amount of $175, which help offset the cost of sheet music and compensation for our Conductor and Accompanist. Dues are per single season, Payable online when you register or collected at the beginning of each of our first two rehearsal seasons.
Formal concerts may require a specific dress/costuming for women and men at member cost. For women, dresses may be purchased through the selected vendor of choice in the range of $75+ dollars with prices subject to change. Men may be required to wear a tuxedo with a white shirt. Tuxedos may be purchased through selected vendors at a pre-arranged price, which must follow set guidelines.
Our non-formal concerts may require purchase of shirts or accessories by both men and women. These casual outfits will be determined by the costume committee yearly at member cost.
REHEARSALS Rehearsals are held Monday evenings from 7:00 – 9:30 pm at Mayflower Presbyterian Church in Pacific Grove.
ENSEMBLES AND SOLOISTS Each concert includes performances by ensembles, and some choral numbers include solos. Selection of singers for these roles is based on auditions by the Conductor; everyone is encouraged to try out.
CONCERTS: There are usually three concerts scheduled a season. Singers are expected to attend and perform at all three concerts. Concerts dates are posted and announced as soon as available.
Special Summer Session 2017
The Monterey Peninsula Voices have been invited to sing at the Pacific Grove Fourth of July Celebration and we will hold a summer session of five rehearsals June 5 - July 3 to learn 3-4 songs that we will sing on July 4. We will go on about 11:30 and be finished about 12:30.
The special session fee, $75, is a little higher than might be expected because there are no event ticket sales to supplement costs. The fee pays for our director, accompanist,music and rehearsal space rental, Rehearsals will be at Mayflower Presbyterian Church on Mondays at 7 PM. No attendance policy will be enforced for this special summer session.
